Peru Train to Machu Picchu Luggage Up-date
Recently the luggage policies on board the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu will require travelers to pack their hand luggage in/on the compartments. Effective August 06, 2012, all hand luggage mush be stored in/on compartments within the train car. No hand luggage that exceeds 11 pounds or a dimension of 62 inches (length, width & height) will be allow in the train car. All other luggage is stored in a separate luggage car. Hand luggage cannot be placed in/on the aisle, exit doors or emergency windows or on the sets. The hand baggage will be transported on board the train, under the passengers´custody and liability.
Route to Machu Picchu
Passengers hiking the Inca Trail will be allowed to apply for the “Exceptional Flexibility Policy” for Luggage on Board the train. When showing their UGM permission, ONLY ON THE WAY TO MACHU PICCHU. On the return train, the hand luggage must be transported on the luggage car offered. Passengers with at least one overnight in Machu Picchu can transport their overweight luggage in a luggage car available on the following schedules by showing its valid ticket:

A Storage Service facility is available at Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu stations.
Ollantaytambo: Monday to Sunday 07:00hs to 19:00hs
Machu Picchu: Monday to Sunday 10:30hs to 16:30hs
Storage service is FREE OF CHARGE, by showing valid ticket.
TO AVOID DELAYS ON THE DEPARTURES, THE LUGGAGE CHECK-IN WILL BE MADE AT THE STATION MAIN ENTRANCES.

Please note that on route to Puno, a luggage car is available to transport over weight luggage FREE OF CHARGE.
